Application Fee

Candidates applying for the RRB Technician positions must pay a non-refundable application fee as follows:

• For General/OBC/EWS Candidates: ₹500/- (₹400/- refundable after appearing for CBT)
• For SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-servicemen/Minority/Female/Transgender Candidates: ₹250/- (fully refundable after appearing for CBT)
• Payment Mode: Online via Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, or UPI

Age Limit

The age limits for RRB Technician 2024 positions are calculated as of January 1, 2025.

• Technician Grade I Signal: 18-36 years
• Technician Grade III: 18-36 years
• Technician Gr. III (Workshop & PUs): 19-40 years

Age Relaxation

To provide relief to those who may have missed recruitment opportunities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a one-time age relaxation of 3 years beyond the prescribed upper age limit is offered for all categories:

• SC/ST candidates: Additional 5 years
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: Additional 3 years
• Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation according to the length of service in the armed forces
• PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities):
  • General/EWS: 10 years
  • OBC: 13 years
  • SC/ST: 15 years
• Railway employees with at least 3 years of service: Up to 40 years for UR/EWS, 43 years for OBC, and 45 years for SC/ST
• Widows, Divorced Women, and Women Judicially Separated but not Remarried: Up to 35 years for UR/EWS, 38 years for OBC, and 40 years for SC/ST

Qualification

Candidates applying for the RRB Technician positions must have:

• For Technician Grade I Signal: Candidates Should Possess a Diploma (Engg) or Degree (Engg) or B.Sc (Physics/ Electronics/ Computer/ IT/ Instrumentation)
• For Technician Grade III: Candidates Should Possess Matriculation/ SSLC, ITI (Relevant Trade) of NCVT/ SCVT.

Exam Pattern

CBT of Technician Gr. I Signal

• Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for PwBD candidates with scribe)
• Total Questions: 100 (Objective type)
• Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark deducted for each wrong answer.

CBT of Technician Gr. III

• Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for PwBD candidates with scribe)
• Total Questions: 100 (Objective type)
• Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark deducted for each wrong answer.

Selection Process

The final selection will be based on:

1. Performance in CBT 1 (normalized scores will be used for merit listing).
2. Document Verification to verify eligibility and educational qualifications.
3. Medical Examination to ensure the candidate’s physical fitness for the job.
