Age Limit

To be eligible for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025, candidates must meet the following age criteria:

Qualification

1. Degree in Engineering:

2. Alternative Qualifications:
   • Candidates who have passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India) are also eligible.

   • Candidates who have passed the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India) can apply.
   • Candidates who have passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.
   • Candidates with a Master’s degree in Science (M.Sc.) in fields like Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics, or Radio Engineering are eligible for specific posts such as the Indian Naval Armament Service and Indian Radio Regulatory Service​

Selection Process

The selection process consists of three stages, each designed to evaluate the candidate’s technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and suitability for a government engineering role.

1. Preliminary Examination (Stage I):
   • This is an objective-type exam with two papers:
     • Paper I: General Studies and Engineering Aptitude (200 marks, 2 hours)
     • Paper II: Discipline-specific (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering) (300 marks, 3 hours)
   • Total Marks: 500
2. Main Examination (Stage II):
   • A conventional, written examination consisting of two papers in the specific engineering discipline chosen by the candidate.
   • Each paper carries 300 marks.
   • Total Marks: 600
3. Personality Test (Stage III):
   • Candidates who qualify for the Main Exam will be called for the Personality Test or Interview.
   • Total Marks: 200

Salary for UPSC ESE 2025

• Selected candidates will be recruited into Group A services with a pay scale governed by the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
• Entry-level Salary: ₹56,100 per month, which can go up to ₹1,77,500 along with additional allowances such as DA, HRA, and other benefits, depending on the post and location.
