Age Limit
To be eligible for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025, candidates must meet the following age criteria:
Age Range:
- Minimum Age: 21 years (as of 1st January 2025).
- Maximum Age: 30 years (as of 1st January 2025).
- Candidates must have been born between 2nd January 1995 and 1st January 2004.
Age Relaxation:

- OBC: Up to 3 years (maximum age limit extended to 33 years).

Qualification

- Candidates who have passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.
- Candidates with a Master’s degree in Science (M.Sc.) in fields like Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics, or Radio Engineering are eligible for specific posts such as the Indian Naval Armament Service and Indian Radio Regulatory Service
Selection Process
The selection process consists of three stages, each designed to evaluate the candidate’s technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and suitability for a government engineering role.
- Preliminary Examination (Stage I):
- This is an objective-type exam with two papers:
- Paper I: General Studies and Engineering Aptitude (200 marks, 2 hours)
- Paper II: Discipline-specific (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering) (300 marks, 3 hours)
- Total Marks: 500
- This is an objective-type exam with two papers:
- Main Examination (Stage II):
- A conventional, written examination consisting of two papers in the specific engineering discipline chosen by the candidate.
- Each paper carries 300 marks.
- Total Marks: 600
- Personality Test (Stage III):
- Candidates who qualify for the Main Exam will be called for the Personality Test or Interview.
- Total Marks: 200
- This stage assesses the candidate’s leadership qualities, initiative, and communication skills.
Salary for UPSC ESE 2025
- Selected candidates will be recruited into Group A services with a pay scale governed by the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
